Commonly Asked Questions:
Do you know what’s wrong with me?
“Yes! You have imbalances / malfunctions occurring in your body that are at the root of your health complaints and we can identify them using functional in office and lab assessments. And send out medical testing”
Most of my clients have no idea what is causing their health complaints…and neither do their doctors. They have been chasing their symptoms for years because other providers can’t find the cause or don’t bother to even look for it. Functional Holistic health detectives are different. I use in house functional and medical diagnostic lab work to identify underlying malfunctions and then we decide on and use a holistic protocol to support the body’s ability to correct those malfunctions.
Can you help me?
“Absolutely! But you must be as committed to restoring your health as I am, at very least we can get you feeling better and at very best your condition may very well go away.” Customized functional medicine protocols are based on finding healing opportunities, and not on just treating symptoms. It takes time to rebuild, repair and restore normal function to the body’s cells, organs or systems. Clients typically experience improvements right away. But balancing body chemistry, detoxification, improving digestion and assimilation, and immune system boosting each come with challenges that require persistence and possible course corrections. Restoring hormone balance may happen quickly in some people and take more time in others due to how we each respond to our own chronic stress factors.
Have you helped others like me?
“Yes! I have used Functional medicine and holistic protocols and have helped hundreds perhaps thousands of people reach their best level of health in many years.”
Many of my clients have completely resolved their health conditions even if they were previously diagnosed and currently treated for serious medical conditions.
What is a functional medical practitioner?
Functional medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease, using a systems-oriented approach and engaging both patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. Functional medicine focuses on finding the “root cause” behind the symptoms. The symptoms are not something to hide but rather they are clues for determining the underlying problems that are producing the symptoms. This involves finding the proper balance of products and therapies that will cause a systemic holistic response intending to allow the body to heal from within. In my personal opinion is an evolution in the practice of medicine that better address the healthcare needs of the 21st century. If I break my leg or God forbid have a heart attack I’ll seek the marvel of modern medicine for life saving intervention. But if I want to sustain my life with vitality I try to stay off drugs.
What is a conventional drug medical practitioner?
Conventional medicine primarily identifies the symptoms a patient is experiencing and uses those symptoms to identify a disease and to create a treatment plan that frequently involves finding the proper pharmaceuticals drugs that will cause a chemical reaction(s) intending to reduce the symptoms. I myself am in favor of an annual check up with the internist family doctor.
What makes your functional medicine approach different than conventional medicine? My natural, holistic approach yields the highest level of positive results for my clients. I don’t medicate, I educate! I don’t guess, we test! Together we can decide which labs to use and how to interpret the results. Some health coaches may offer labs, or testing but without a complete understanding of how to interpret them functionally, most providers end up treating only the test results instead of the whole person. Together we can create simple, customized step by step health restoration plan for your life. The proof is in the pudding they say.
Why doesn't my doctor do this?
Unfortunately many functional alternative services are forgotten or not researched, slandered, demonized or discredited. This is the world we live in. the medical industry at one time even demonized EEGs and EKGs and good men and women were imprisoned for their research. For many years I was a skeptic of anything the FDA didn't approve of but after my own disease and recover from it I came to realize that if a certain product or modality is being attacked as quackery in society or on the Internet, then it's probably worth looking into and most likely works. Like chiropractic associations and acupuncture that has been fought in class action law suits against the American Medical Association (AMA) both modalities are now accepted by insurance, in hospitals around the world only because of by popular demand.
Could you give me an example of why I should see both a conventional doctor and a non- conventional functional medicine doctor?
Sure! Conventional medicine is an outstanding approach for some conditions, but it can really miss the underlying cause in many other situations. It may even get to the root but miss the feeding cause like the biological terrain of soil around the root. Let’s say a patient comes in with a sore throat. In the conventional approach, the throat would be examined and the physician would determine whether the sore throat was caused by a viral infection, like the common cold, or whether it might be caused by viral strep bacteria. If it is determined to be strep, an antibiotic would be prescribed. In acute care situations such as this, conventional medicine is providing the exact treatment that the patient needs to treat the root of the symptom. But in other situations, conventional medicine and functional medicine might take entirely different approaches. If a patient comes in for treatment of an autoimmune condition, such as eczema, a conventional approach might be to focus on the symptoms and to look for medications or topical inflamed skin creams that could reduce the symptoms. The conventional physician might suggest antihistamines or other medications that could suppress the inflammation and reduce the symptoms. The functional medicine doctor, on the other hand, would be more likely to investigate the root cause of the autoimmune reactions. They might look for triggers such as toxins, allergens, or food sensitivities, or DNA expressions that could be causing the symptoms. Although the functional medicine doctor would also most likely suggest a natural drug-less anti-inflammatory to control the skin swelling, they wouldn’t look at that as the “solution” or the "end of story" The drug-less products would be a temporary fix that would be put into place as the real work of investigating and finding the underlying cause of why it took place then balancing your biological environment so intending it to never happen again.

The generous soul will prosper;
those who refresh others also themselves will be refreshed.
Proverb 11:25
הֵיכָל hêykâl,
Temple
Our body is a Temple of whatever/whoever we serve
Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? Read 1 Corinthians 3:16-17
Many Christians and preachers claim that God is only interested in their hearts and nothing with their body, and so they can do anything with their bodies. Such teaching and notion is from the pit of hell, very deceptive and destructive; the same Christians ask God to heal their bodies when they are sick and also ask God to protect their bodies, so if God is not interested in their bodies, why will God heal their bodies from sickness? If they think their faith in God has nothing to do with God, why will they ask God to heal or protect the their body from attacks?
Jesus Christ died for our soul, spirit and body, to give freedom, not only for our spirit and soul but also our body. We are a trinity as created in the image of god. Christ came to set us free in all three areas. When you become a child of God, your body is no longer your body but God's temple, whatever you do with it is very important to God.
