The Turcotte Technique A Postural Body Work

A concise, hands-on, whole-body correction and balancing system tailored to encourage your total wellbeing. Michael Turcotte is known for his unique understanding of the sources of pain and stress, his ability to help as a healer, his exhaustive research into health, and his commitment to his clients, nationally board certified in Neuromuscular Massage Therapy as well as Orthopedic Assessment.

Michael utilizes the  "Visible Body"  computerized program to provide you with 3-D animations; used to show exactly which structures are involved and provide you with a visual of the condition of your muscles, nerves and facia that may be injured or imbalanced.

The fascinating part of the neuromuscular osteopathic approach to treating pain is that it can provide explanations based purely on anatomy for very common, but poorly understood ailments.  Frozen shoulder can relate to a nerve irritation stemming from the visceral pleura.  Chronically cold feet can be your small intestines.  Persistent left sciatica or SI pain can be your sigmoid colon.  Right medial knee pain and instability can be an irritation of your obturator nerve near your large intestine.  Right shoulder pain can be a restriction in your liver.  Heartburn and gastric reflux can mean your stomach is sitting too high.  The list goes on and it is a bit more complicated than that, but the amazing part is that it is all treatable by a good manual therapist that knows his anatomy inside and out (literally).

Neuromuscular or fascia  manipulation is unlikely to be the answer for everything, but it can be the missing piece of the puzzle for a lot of people.

Whether your goal is to relieve muscle aches and pains or emotional stress; to function more highly or to relax; or to detoxify your body and clarify your thinking, you’ll find even a single session with Michael will help you feel better, look better, and enjoy your life more fully! Computerized Postural Analysis

Michael Turcotte utilizes a Postural Analysis that is a well known system that may be used while he helps to restore your body’s many functions; through an in depth computer physical analysis; then followed by a series of massage modalities

(Turcot Technique). This evaluation system will help reveal muscular imbalances that cause postural inefficiencies, compensated motion, and pain.

A home stretching program may be specifically designed to help you eventually attain a better balanced posture leading to overall improved function, and a higher quality of mobility.

The Photography shots he takes at different intervals of your sessions may best assess and track your progress.

Neuromuscular Therapy

The Turcotte Technique is combined with Neuromuscular Therapy which is a hands on soft tissue technique specifically designed to identify and address muscular dysfunction, injury and pain. This effective therapy boosts the body’s ability to recover from prolonged exposure to the stress and strain of overtraining and fatigue, and encourages a restoration of functional normality with focus on deactivating trigger points. The Principals of Neuromuscular Therapy are:

Ischemia: Lack of blood supply to soft tissues which causes hypersensitivity to

touch Trigger Points: Highly irritated points in muscles which refer pain to other parts of the body.

Nerve Compression or Entrapment: Pressure on a nerve by soft tissue, cartilage or bone.

Postural Distortion: Imbalance of the muscular system resulting from the movement of the body off the longitudinal and horizontal planes.

Biomechanical Dysfunction: Imbalance of the musculoskeletal system resulting in faulty movement patterns

• Prepares the body for other therapeutic methods, such as manipulation and exercise
• Locates and release spasms and hyper contradiction in the tissues
• Eliminates trigger points that causes referred pain
• Rebuilds injured tissues
• Relaxes tense muscular tissues
• Restores function to the body
• Improves posture
